What would you like to learn more?

There were many things that I did not know about computer, but through this class, I could get a lot of knowledge about it. Therefore, now, I think I can use a computer more effectively than before. Thank you very much, Mr.Poza!!
Now, I want to learn more about excel because I do not have knowledge about excel and know how to use it. Although I do not have an opportunity to use excel now, it might be useful in the future. Therefore, I want to learn about it deeply. Moreover, I want to learn more about making web pages. In the class, I could learn basic knowledge about HTML and make my own page. However, HTML was a difficult section for me, and I sometimes got confused. Thus, if I learn more about it, I will be able to make web pages smoothly without confusion. In addition, I heard there are different ways to make web pages, so I want to know about them, too.

What is "Viral Video"?

Viral video is video clip that becomes popular through Internet such as email and blogs, or other websites which are shared by media. There are a variety of contents including funny commercial, sports, movies, news, music, animals, politics and more. Now, the popular web site for viral video is YouTube. Because of viral video sites, there are some impacts on society. In the case of YouTube, for example, “internet celebrities” appear from some videos. In addition, viral video becomes a good way to promote bands and music. Viral video are humorous in many cases, and many of them are produced by amateurs. Since there are devices that enable people to edit and publish video cheaply, viral video spread widely through amateurs. Of course, many companies use viral video for advertising their products.

Computer gifts you would buy for friends & family

If I have a chance to give some computer present for my friends and family, I would like to give a web camera for skype! A few weeks ago, after I knew about skype in this class, I download it, and so do my family. Therefore, now I can talk with my family by computer for free!! My family really surprised when I introduced skype to them, and now they are really glad to know about it. However, we do not have a web camera, so we cannot see our face each other. From this April, I am going to go to Australia; therefore, I can not meet my family or friends frequently. I think I will miss my friends and family, so if I give a web camera to my family and friends, I can see their face whenever I talk with them using skype! For these reasons, I will give a web camera to my friends and family.

What Is "Net Neutrality"?

Net Neutrality (also Network Neutrality) is the concept that internet is free and open to everyone: no discrimination. Therefore, it allows all internet users to access any web pages, run some applications and devices. For example, we are able to see whatever web pages we want, use email, send instant message with messengers, view some online videos, and play with online game whenever we want because of the Net Neutrality. Moreover, we can run a blog to give our opinions or make web pages easily without getting any permission. Due to this concept, it enables us to have worldwide open communications, involvements, and freedom of speech. However, since it is open and free, there is a lot of wrong information on the sites. Thus, there is also a responsibility for users to choose the proper information.

Tell about some recent computer News

The Center for Open and Sustainable Learning(COSL) have made the Microlibraries projects. This projects supply more than 20,000 Project Gutenberg books by a print-on-demand system, which is so simple and cheep. The Center plans to provide 5,000 books for elementary schools in rural area because those schools have a difficulty to stock a variety of books in the school. Therefore, if schools request some books, microlibrary can print books. Moreover, when we access the web site, we can find the books in a print-ready format, so it is convenient. In order to print and bind the books, a computer, a duplex printer, a binder, and a paper cutter are required. These equipments are cost less than $2500 in total. It is possible to save money by bind books manually since a binder costs the most. COSL aims to decrease the cost to a dollar a book in the future.

The first web site I want to introduce is “How Stuff Works”. From this site, we can learn how everything works! The second site is called “Epicurious, for people who love to eat”. This site shows us various kinds of recipes, restaurant guides, food dictionary, and more!! Because many students live alone, they have a lot of opportunities to cook their own meals. For those students, this site will be useful to widen their knowledge of cooking. In addition, food dictionary is really interesting. You can find information about any food you want to know. Finally, I want to introduce a site called “About”. This site also gives us a lot of information about anything. This site covers a thousand of hundreds of topics; therefore, it will be useful not only for your interests but also for your academic research! What Is "Social Engineering"?

Social engineering is a technique to get people’s important private information; for example, passwords for entering some networks, which relate to the security. People who do social engineering get the information by listening to the information secretly, looking victim’s act of typing password from the back of the victim. Moreover, they try to find some private information that would be the key of password from documents which are thrown away in an office. In addition, there is a way to deceive people and enter the network. People who do social engineering pretend to be a customer or user of the network, and they call the manager to change the password. Then, they ask for the new password. All in all, social engineering takes advantage of people’s unawareness of protecting their private information.

I did not know this term before I researched it. However, now I could understand the meaning. At the same time, I realized that I should be more careful about protecting my private information.

What I Want to Know about Mac.

Actually, I do not know much about Mac although my father uses Mac for many years…
However, I know few things about Mac. First of all, Mac is an operating system like Windows, and it controls computers. Since many people use Windows compared with Mac, people who use Mac are few. What is more, Mac has strong security compared with Windows because thousands of hundreds of viruses are aimed to attack Windows. Therefore, if we have an apple computer, we do not need to be aware of viruses. In addition to that, Mac has more languages which we can use. As a consequence, it is convenient for people who need to use a variety of language on their computer. Finally, Mac has a different design from Windows. I guess Mac has a simpler design than that of Windows. Because my computer is Windows, I have never thought carefully about apple computer. From now on, I want to know more about Mac, and I want to choose which include the best functions for me in the future.

What I Want to Learn about Computers!

I have been using computers for many years; however, I realized that I do not know so much about computers after I took this class. Therefore, I want to learn about computers as much as possible!!

First of all, I want to know especially about Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel. Microsoft Word is essential soft for me to write research papers, essays, and other materials. I think I know basic things that I can do with this soft, but I guess there are many useful functions which I do not know yet. May be many functions are hidden around me!!! Therefore, I want to know about it deeply through this class. In addition, I feel it is necessary for me to know about Power Point because it is very convenient when we make a presentation. In fact, I had an opportunity to make the presentation on the first semester, and I tried to use the Power Point. However, since I did not know much about its functions, it took long time to make each slide. Thus, if I get used to it, I think I can make good slides smoothly! Moreover, I really want to know about Excel. To tell the truth, I have never used this soft before; however, this soft might be useful in the future! Therefore, I want to know about it from the basic function!

In addition to these three things, I am eager to study about fun stuff!
Such as i tunes, you tube, skype, and more! It seems really interesting for me, but as the same as Microsoft word, I think more exciting ways to enjoy these things might be hidden some where!
